Spring Break is a wonderful week of extra time spent with your children. But it’s also a week full of “I’m bored” heard over and over. Here is your cure for those Spring Break boredom blues!
Communities across the US are teeming with resources and activities for children, and they’re often free! Finding the activities, though, isn’t always the easy part. So where do you look? Start with the following list:

Where: Norman Central Library (103 W Acres St, Norman)
When: 2 – 2:45 p.m.
What: A dance party with fun music and bubbles.
Ages: This program is best for children and their grown-ups.

- Money Matters with the Money Coach
Where: Real Church (11911 N. Pennsylvania Ave. OKC)
When: 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
What: Learn how to get your finances on track! Activities for both parents and children. Admission is free and lunch is provided (space is limited)
Where: Myriad Gardens (301 W Reno Ave)
When: Noon – 4 p.m.
What: Performance by the Oklahoma Scottish Pipes and Drums, food trucks, vendors and more. FREE to attend; activities, $5.
Where: Warr Acres Library (5901 NW 63rd St)
When: 2 – 4 p.m.
What: Community vehicles as well as police officers, fire fighters, and sanitation workers. There will also be crafts and storytime inside the library. This is a come-&-go event. Ages: Best suited for ages 10 & under.

Where: Oklahoma City Museum of Art (415 Couch Dr)
When: Noon – 5 p.m.
What: Complimentary museum admission, art activities, fun gallery experiences and more.

Where: Norman Central Library (103 W Acres St, Norman)
When: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
What: Amphibian, reptile and invertebrate exploration with the Oklahoma City Herpetological and Invertebrate Society. See snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises, frogs, toads, salamanders and all kinds of bugs. All ages welcome.

Where: Almonte Library (2914 SW 59th St)
When: 6 – 7:45 p.m.
What: Themed escape room for families try to escape together.
Ages: For ages 8 & up. Preregister.
Where: Warr Acres Library (5901 NW 63rd St, Warr Acres)
When: 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
What: Learn about one of the key features to animal survival, locomotion. Participants will observe skeletal features that define a particular type of movement, and then name that movement.
Ages: Best suited for kids in 1st – 5th grade. Preregister.
Where: Downtown Library (300 Park Ave)
When: 3 – 6 p.m.
What: Variety of Jurassic Park themed activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Michael Crichton’s book.
Where: Warr Acres Library (5901 NW 63rd St, Warr Acres).
When: 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
What: Investigate and find the clues to solve the mystery before it’s too late.
Ages: Kids ages 12 – 18 Preregister.

Where: Mitch Park (1501 W Covell Rd, Edmond).
When: 5:30 – 7 p.m. Also held: April 2.
What: Learn how to build a fire and some basic dishes. All supplies provided.
Ages: For ages 8 & up. Preregister.

Where: Spiro Mounds (18154 First St, Spiro)
When: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
What: Professional kiters and guided tours of the site.
Where: Warr Acres Library (5901 NW 63rd St, Warr Acres).
When: 2 & 3:30 p.m.
What: Travel the world with Extreme Animals and learn about different creatures and their habitats.
Ages: Best suited for ages 10 & under. Space is limited. First come, first served.
Where: Bethany Library (6700 NW 35th St)
When: 2 – 3 p.m.
What: Learn about Irish culture and tradition through the inventiveness and creativeness of Irish Dance. Jean Hill’s Irish Dancers will provide a lively, toe-tapping performance wearing colorful, traditional costumes. All ages welcome.
